JANET
PADUH BIO
Born
in Kansas City, Kansas. and raised in Topeka, Kansas, I
have spent the past 30 years
in Texas. I
have had a love of all art forms from an early age and
have been creating paintings since the mid 60’s.
Having
studied various techniques in watercolor, oils, acrylics,
printing, collage, weaving, as well as, creating silver
and gold jewelry. I
have settled into my main love of watercolor and acrylic
painting. I
have studied with very talented teachers such as Louise
Cadillac, Al Brouilette, Carrie Burns Brown, Catherine
Chang Lui, and Alex Powers to name only a few.
Subject
matter is varied, but the style always retains its
humorous, quirky, extremely vivid and bold palette, using
strong primary colors. A "pastel" painting is
not in my vocabulary. My
style looks simplistic, but is actually multiple layers of
acrylic paint on canvas which is then varnished several
times to bring out the depth of color saturation.
This
fall I have also returned to painting original
watercolors, which will be in addition to my original
acrylic pieces.

I
am partial to painting animals, in a unique style, with a
personality of their own. My
subjects range from "fur people" that are a
large part of most families, to the jungle variety,
tropical fish, and birds. Viewers will also notice, in my
large portfolio of work, that I paint many architectural
landmarks, of a diverse variety, with a particular
fondness for unique local areas and nationally known
locales. Commissions
are always welcome, please contact the gallery.
Larger
permanent collections of my works (Watercolor &
Acrylics) are located in major medical centers, public
buildings, major veterinary hospitals, and private
business offices and homes throughout the United States.
My
"eclectic" paintings are also no strangers to
international residences and businesses from London to
Bombay. I
am a Signature Member in the Texas Watercolor Society, a
Silver Medallist with the San Antonio Watercolor Group.
I have
also been in Chair positions (President, Vice-President,
Treasurer, Workshop) with numerous Texas organizations, as
well as, several national art organizations.
For
the last 8 years I have worked, in conjunction with, the
La Villita Tenants Association, to contribute artist
materials, award money, and time to set up this
wonderfully talented, yearly juried watercolor exhibit for
the "SAY SI" organization, an after school
non-profit venue for middle & high school students.
They,
in turn, have a watercolor exhibit, during May each year,
in San Antonio’s historic arts district, La Villita,
located on the River Walk.
This
annual student art exhibit and sale creates a venue for
these extremely talented young artists to compete and sell
their work in an art fair atmosphere.
This
event is co-sponsored by the La Villita Tenants
Association, Denise Barron, owner of Artistic Endeavors,
and myself, who donates frames, watercolor paper, and a
portion of the prize money for about 120 student artists.
This is
a most well deserving organization.
