Janet Campbell received
her early training in commercial art. This background provided a
basic foundation in drawing, discipline and painting techniques. She
has lived in Europe, Asia, and several metropolitan areas of the United
States. Exposure to art in these different cultures has given her a
universal appreciation for fine art. It wasn't until 1973 that she
found transparent watercolor to be the natural medium for presenting her
perceptions.
Janet's strong impressionistic/realistic style is easily recognized.
It employs the "wet on wet" technique and features the bold use
of color. The technique evolved from experience and experimentation
and was influenced by study with nationally known watercolor instructors.
The primary subjects of Janet's paintings have been the scenes around
her. Landscapes, lake scenes, architectural and historical
structures and cityscapes have predominated and have been the subjects of
many commissioned works.
