Sculptures
HP Meyer works in
stone, bronze and cast paper. The stone pieces are hand carved and
unique. The cast bronze sculptures are limited editions and are cast
utilizing the lost wax process by the Santa Fe Bronze Foundry.
The originals for
cast paper sculptures are made by the artist and each paper is cast by the
artist in limited editions. The cotton fiber is tinted before casting; and
each piece is accented by hand painting after casting.
Meyer is a mechanical
design engineer turned sculptor who has been producing sculptures professionally
for more than thirty years, devoting full time to this career since 1970.
He first exhibited
his stone sculpture in 1966 and for the next four or five years entered his work
in many local, regional, and international juried shows, winning several
awards. Because of the demand in more recent years, he has been devoting
his time to completion of large sculptures in stone - commissioned through
architects and to producing for gallery sales.
He is a past member
of the State Board of Directors of the Texas Society of Sculptors; as well as a
member of other art groups. His work has been exhibited by the National
Sculpture Society in New York; the International Drawing and Small Sculpture
Exhibition; Del Mar College in Corpus Christi; the Institute of Texan Cultures,
San Antonio; the Abilene Fine Arts Museum, Abilene; Saint Mary's University, San
Antonio; the Art League in Beaumont; The San Antonio Art League; the Jewish
Community Center, San Antonio; and The Texas Society of Sculptors State
Exhibitions in Houston, Austin, and many others.
Nearly two hundred of
his bronze and stone sculptures and over six hundred of his cast paper
sculptures are in corporate and private collections throughout the United States
and in Mexico and Japan.
