Flowers
of Light
Flowers of light developed over
many years as I contracted and expanded my connection with the flower/light
edge.
In some ways this has been driven
by photosynthetic jealousy. Even though I consider that humans can be beings of
light, it seems simpler, more sensual and more seductive for light to embrace
the flower.
Perhaps this comes from the sheer
delicacy of the petal or the ecstatic vibrancy of their hue. In any case, I am
iridescently green with envy.
Harmonics
Harmonics started a few years ago
with some ideas I had for taking natural images to make rhythmic patterns and
visual music.. I put
the idea aside and on a vacation in Captiva, Florida took a series of
photographs in a swamp. I recently unearthed this series and realized it was
what I needed for my composition of visual/auditory duality and unity.
Lyrical Vibrations of Color
Rhythm of Pattern
Harmony of Shadow and Light
As I began to work, the images
moved together creating themselves and I knew I was the conduit not the
conductor.
Artist’s
Statement
I have been
photographing for more than 30 years. Photographs are, for me, explorations of
internal landscapes. They reflect my connection with the natural world at the
microcosmic, cosmic and macrocosmic level.
I feel that fusion with the light
is essential to recharge our original source and is that which we strive for at
the biological, psychological and spiritual level.
I strive for the unseen image,
available to the most naked eye and the simplest of mind.
